The Fortress Diagnostics Alanine amino-transferase (ALT) in vitro test is intended for the quantitative determination of ALT in human serum and plasma.

ALT belongs to the group of transaminases which catalyze the conversion of amino acids to the corresponding α-keto acids via the transfer of aminogroups; they also catalyze the reverse process.
